The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is delighted to advertise the opportunity of a Casework Assistant role on the Proceeds of Crime Team.
CPS POC is a national service dedicated to asset recovery work. It owns the CPS Asset Recovery Strategy, which supports the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy, in its aim of substantially reducing the level of serious and organised crime affecting the UK and its interests.
CPSPOC works with law enforcement agencies including the police, the National Crime Agency, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs and the Department for Work & Pensions, as well as Regional Asset Recovery Teams (multi-agency), Asset Confiscation Enforcement teams (police & NCA), HM Courts & Tribunal Service and the Home Office. What does the role entail?
To provide casework and general administrative assistance to prosecution team members. To act as a point of contact for the unit, dealing with enquiries and correspondence in a professional and courteous manner. Preparation of cases for court, ensuring that all case files are accounted for.
Undertake administrative actions, working in an organised manner and in accordance with standard operating procedures. To be proactive in carrying out designated tasks to a high standard within the team’s specified deadlines.
To accurately record case outcomes within required timescales on the Case Management system (CMS), carrying out post hearing actions on cases in accordance with prosecutor instructions.
Preparing cases for court hearings and serving material on other parties ensuring all information is recorded on CMS accurately.
Dealing with telephone enquiries in a professional manner, linking correspondence to case files and completing related tasks on cases in accordance with prosecutor instructions.
Produce basic letters, following a standard format.
Provide an excellent customer service demonstrating sound judgement when dealing with enquiries.
Dealing with correspondence and enquires from stakeholders, Defence and colleagues in a timely and professional manner.

Candidates who are recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy will be placed on a waiting list for 12 months and may be offered another post should any further vacancies for an Apprenticeship arise in this Area during this period.
