Purpose of Role
Operating within the Finance team, the Accounts Receivable Assistant will be responsible for providing an excellent Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Service responsive to the needs of all stakeholders; the College’s students, external customers, sponsors and staff. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Accounts Receivable Supervisor in allocating income, answering queries, creating suppliers, and chasing debt.
They are currently implementing a new student information system to improve student fee collection processes and the role holder will be expected to transition between the existing system and the new system.
The role holder will work with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Head of Financial Accounting, a wide range of College staff, students, and external suppliers.
Process, upload and match payments that are received through various payment methods into the Finance system
Respond to emails from students and parents or sponsors on fees owing.
Ensure cash receipts/ incoming cheques/ other adhoc receipts are correctly recorded and accounted for on Agresso.
Produce and issue reminders and statements to other customers and sponsors in line with credit periods.
Banking of cheques and cash
Manage and reconcile the petty cash account.
Setup suppliers and amend supplier details
Reconcile supplier statements
Scan purchase invoices
Maintain and develop expert technical knowledge of Agresso accounts receivable & payable
module and provide assistance and training to College users in the invoicing & requisitions process.
Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including the Finance Team, students, staff and external customers, and report back to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor as required.
Any other duties as specified by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor
Attention to detail
Excellent IT skills including good working knowledge of excel and word.
Ability to provide a high level of customer service at all times
Enthusiastic, outgoing approach
Able to communicate & report back effectively to Director of Finance, Deputy Director of Finance and Head of Financial Accounting.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within the College with a wide range of staff and students. AAT (Association of accounting technicians) or working towards an accounting qualification.
Degree level (Preferably Accounts/Finance/Economics OR similar).
Experience of working in a Finance department
Experience of using Agresso.

35 hours per week, 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday with an hour each day for lunch
25 days annual leave per annum plus extended break at Christmas
