City Academy is a forward thinking Academy based in East Central Bristol. City Academy provides education to 750 students KS3, 4 and 5. The children at City Academy are excited to learn and are real ambassadors for our diverse community. They benefit from a hugely positive and supporting learning environment.

City Academy is part of the (CLF). The CLF is the largest non-diocesan academy group in the South West. The CLF currently sponsors 14 academies, eight of which are secondary, five are primary and one is a studio school catering for students aged 14 to 19.

This role is to provide pastoral support to students aged 11 – 16 with a focus on encouraging good behaviour, performance and attendance. The ability to communicate effectively, empathise and provide solutions to issues is essential. A primary function of the role is to raise attendance, therefore, a working knowledge of strategies and SIMS is desirable.

In this role you will be accountable for monitoring the safeguarding of the students in your year group and report as appropriate, to support the development of the school ethos and attend multi agency meetings as directed by the Pastoral Leader. Your duties will specifically include:-

  • To be a key point of contact for students in years 7 – 11.
  • To liaise with the Head of Faculty (Inclusion) with regard to the progress of SEND students.
  • To liaise and work with Heads of Faculty to support student culture in their areas.
  • To ensure the behaviour and attendance policy is effectively implemented for all students.

You must have patience, resilience, tact and the ability to emphasise with people of all ages and in different roles and contexts. Have a passion for helping young people to achieve, to work through the barriers to learning and to support them when they may face difficult issues.

The CLF will provide you with a hugely positive and supporting learning environment; and the opportunity to participate in both Academy and pan-federation professional development from a wide network of high quality education professionals.
