We have 1,600 people located in our purpose built, secure delivery centre in Belfast and across our regional offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh; as well as on a range of client sites.

About the role

The Director will be a core member of Operate’s Leadership team and contribute to the strategic direction and operational delivery of the business. They will be responsible for strategically planning, leading and ensuring quality delivery of a range of large-scale operational programmes, driving innovation, leading our technology transformation team and running core operational support infrastructure across Operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of a range of infrastructure support teams including; Technology, Business Innovation and Capability & Development (people, process, technology) to ensure high performance of operational delivery underpinned by leading innovative technology across Operate’s large scale programmes; taking ultimate responsibility for business performance across the operational and technological landscape.

  • Provide strategic direction to these teams and lead the operational infrastructure planning and delivery, resourcing and skilling the teams appropriately and applying commercial acumen throughout the function.

  • Indirect leadership and guardianship/ advocacy of operational excellence frameworks and disciplines across all Operate delivery programmes, providing independent and quality assurance of adherence to frameworks.

  • Work collaboratively to ensure all Operate projects are delivered on time, within set budget and identify and manage operational risks throughout.

  • Drive innovation and continually evolve operational excellence and maturity across Operate; promote Operate’s operational capabilities effectively across the rest of and its clients.

  • Implement, champion and evolve data, analytics and MI reporting strategies and tools to provide real time visibility of performance across all Operate programmes to enable continual improvements and high performance

  • Build enduring stakeholder and client relationships predicated on quality delivery and personal credibility.

  • Work collaboratively with other Operate teams across the People and Finance agenda to deliver Operate’s enablement vision and strategies.

  • Strong focus on cost efficiency, effectiveness and adding value to Operate

  • Provide coaching and mentoring across the infrastructure and support teams and building a culture of continuous development within those teams.

Who we are looking for

The successful applicant will have regular, senior, client interaction and must demonstrate a credible track record of successful operational and technology leadership and gravitas in dealing with senior and executive stakeholders. Whilst not essential, it would be of significant advantage to have experience of this in either a professional services or outsourced/managed services environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience at a senior leadership level; shaping and leading high performing operational environments, large scale projects and running an effective people, process, technology and support infrastructure, preferably in a professional services, outsourced or related sector

  • Demonstrable experience at senior level in delivering commercial performance and cost efficient operational solutions

  • Proven experience of successfully leading high performing technology teams within a complex organisation including; building and maintaining strong relationships between technology teams,broader business functions and external organisations.

  • Evidence of having successfully improved operational environment performance, leading change and ensuring high standards of quality and delivery through use of frameworks and methodologies, including the application of innovative technologies to drive performance improvement.

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including demonstrated leadership behaviours, thought leadership, mentoring, and strong employee engagement

Location / Travel

  • This is a Belfast based role, although you may be required to travel to client sites or other network sites (across the UK and sometimes global client sites).
