We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic part-time Receptionist to join the Building and Facilities Team in the Old Road Campus Research Building.

The reception team provide ‘front of house’ contact and service for visitors and staff alike. The reception area is a busy environment with many visitors and contractors, augmented by students and staff from other University buildings and the local NHS community having access to the Knowledge Centre. In your role as Receptionist, you will cover reception between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm on Wednesday and Thursdays.

Receptionists deal with enquiries and requests from visitors and staff and have responsibilities for elements of the day–to-day functioning of the building: e.g. management of incoming and outgoing post, maintenance of databases (e.g. for access), collating requests for repairs, forwarding of appropriate information throughout the building. Administrative support for the Building and Facilities Manager will form part of the role.

You will be well presented and have excellent customer and communication skills. You will also be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Previous reception or similar experience in a busy environment and experience of MS Office suite is essential. You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with good literacy and numeracy skills. Knowledge of Health and Safety relating to building management and previous usage of computerised security systems would be desirable.

You will be employed through the Nuffield Department of Medicine, Jenner Institute, however, you will provide services for all departments within the building.

This is a fixed-term position, available for 3 years in the first instance. The post is part-time post (14.60 hours per week/40% FTE).

You will be required to upload a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. CVs will not form part of the selection process.
