Building pubs to be proud of and helping to bring people together for happy, memorable, meaningful experiences is what we do best. It’s been our job for the last 180 years.
With 11,000 teammates working at our pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and offices up and down the country, we’re a big business with a homely, family feel. And it’s our people that really make us stand out from the crowd.
We couldn’t be prouder of everything we’ve achieved so far. But we’re looking ahead to the next chapter. We’re on an exciting journey to make Marston’s better than the rest of the industry by being guest obsessed, raising the bar and growing our business.
Our comms team:
As a team, we’re on a mission to improve communication across Marston’s, helping people connect to the bigger picture, collaborate with each other and communicate more easily than ever before.
It’s a big task for a small team of three! How do we do it? Well, we’ve each got unique experience, strengths and skills that we combine to create engaging channels and inspiring campaigns. We’re on the lookout for someone who can complement our current strengths and skills.
Roles and responsibilities:
To help develop and deliver internal and external communications across Marston’s – simple!
To develop engaging and creative content for a range of communication channels and media, including Yammer, Teams, SharePoint, email, PPT presentations, videos, posters, social media messages, website, manager briefings, text messages and the internal newsletter (phew…the list is endless huh?!)
To help create fresh and inspiring campaigns – from initial concepts and planning through to final delivery and evaluation – that promote various business projects and activities
To source and create newsworthy stories from across the business that keep teammates up to date with the latest news and share best practice across Marston’s
To support the development, maintenance and evolution of existing channels, especially our newly launched Microsoft 365 suite including Teams, Yammer, and SharePoint
To upload announcements and news stories to our internal systems and use supporting data to measure impact
To work alongside experts in the business and support them with their communication needs and requirements
To be curious and research communication and digital trends and techniques, applying them where appropriate to internal and external campaigns
To offer general, day-to-day support to the Communications team members
Who are we looking for?
We’re a super busy team looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, confident teammate who’s not afraid to get stuck in.
Yes, ideally, we’re looking for someone who is digitally savvy, who loves writing and creating content and has some marketing or communication knowledge, but more importantly, we’re looking for the right attitude.
We want someone who is willing to get their hands dirty, give something a go (even if it’s new to them), someone who will figure things out (with support) and someone who is hungry to learn, develop and grow. We’re a team that supports each other and has fun along the way.
Loves writing and has top-class writing skills, with the ability to quickly switch styles – from formal to informal – across a range of channels.
A multi-tasking ninja with bags of energy to share. You thrive when you’re getting your teeth stuck into a range of exciting projects at the same time.
Social media savvy. You know what works when it comes to digital content and you’re always on the lookout to test the next big craze.
A ‘people’ person who has the confidence and ability to quickly build trusting relationships. There’s no such thing as strangers; only friends you’re yet to meet.
A creative and fresh thinker who isn’t afraid to ask lots of questions and push boundaries to get the best result and create fresh content.
An expert eye for detail, you love producing top quality content. You know your stuff when it comes to spelling, grammar and punctuation – and you apply it.
You’re a team player. You use your unique skills to chip-in, help and make great suggestions, as well as being able to work independently.
A quick learner who wants to listen, learn and grow to build their communications experience. We’ve got loads of experience to share if you’re interested and eager to learn.
Experience of basic design / video editing on packages such as Canva and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro would be a massive benefit.
Brings lots of energy and passion to everything they do (likes to work hard and play hard!).
You’ll have a driving licence and access to a vehicle – as communicators we have to stay in touch with the people in our business and while we can use technology to do this, there’s nothing better than getting out and about and in our pubs.
Of a graduate level – potentially with a journalism, marketing or communication qualification.
What you get in return:
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays with the ability to buy and sell holiday
20% off in Marston’s pubs and accommodation through our Privilege Card
Marston’s Rewards Programme (discounts with major retailers)
Share Save Incentive Scheme
