National Museums Liverpool Trading Ltd. are recruiting for Events Assistants to join their rapidly growing and busy Events Department.

Purpose of the Role:

To be focused on maximising sales and exceeding customer expectations and assisting in maintaining the venue to company standards with the key aim of retaining and attracting new customers to all National Museums Liverpool venues for future events

Deliver an exceptionally high events standard, with an emphasis on friendly, efficient customer service, to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all clients and guests.

Main Duties:


  • To be aware of the daily and weekly sales targets.
  • To be familiar with the steps to a successful sale and be able to demonstrate them.
  • Responsible for greeting the customers and communicating with them to ensure they receive the best possible service.
  • To maintain a high level of customer service at all times.
  • To make customers feel valued and welcome.
  • To encourage people to return.
  • To process sales in an efficient manner and in line with NML Trading cash handling procedures.
  • To be aware of company policy on returns and complaints.
  • To assist with any complaints at a first level.

Product and Services

  • To demonstrate a passion for products and possess a high level of product knowledge, including stock availability.
  • To participate in stock counts.
  • To comply with procedures for stock deliveries, transfers and write offs.
  • To be aware of all available items, including menu changes.
  • To display all items in the agreed manner.
  • To undertake any training proposed by the company.
  • To set up spaces as per clients requirements.


  • To be alert to the possibility of internal and external theft of cash, keys and stock.
  • To be aware of the need for security of stock.
  • To comply with the company’s cash handling procedures.
  • To ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained, front of house, behind counters, and in stockrooms/storerooms.
  • To ensure that stock is put away correctly.
  • To ensure a post event space has a full clean down.
  • To inform the manager of any faulty fixtures and fittings and remove them from the public area.


  • Be fully responsible for ensuring that an excellent level of hygiene is maintained at all times; complying with all legal and safety requirements. Ensuring that all areas are cleared, clean and sanitised using the methods stipulated by the company.
  • To be aware of responsibilities under HASAW towards other members of staff and customers.
  • To maintain Health & Safety standards as set out in the company policy.


  • Uphold and protect the company’s image and reputation at all times.
  • To dress in keeping with the company’s uniform guidelines and maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with suppliers, Trading team members and other internal customers.
  • Complete all the tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • Undertake such training and attendance on courses and seminars which will assist in the development of skills which are relevant to the department.
  • Undertake duties in other areas of the business as may be required from time to time.
  • Show the highest integrity and confidentiality in the pursuance of these duties.
  • Adhere to and promote NML’s Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding Vulnerable Children and Adults and Child Protection policies. Monitor and update the NML Diversity Action plan.
  • At all times display the upmost respect, tolerance and courtesy to the diverse richness of colleagues and visitors.
  • To adhere to NML's Health & Safety Policies and Procedures, and make a contribution to the continuance of a sound health and safety culture within the department, particularly in relation to Manual Handling.
  • Carry out any reasonable instruction given by Company through the management structure.
