The Youth Emotional Support Team (YES) is committed to providing and co-ordinating support for children and young people struggling with their mental and/or emotional health. Their role is to help the young person identify, manage problems and empower the young person to make positive changes in their life.
The post holder will work within YES delivering, under supervision, high quality: brief outcome focussed interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties as well as working with parents of under 18’s targeting common behavioural issues. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly acclaimed, innovative and award winning team within the IPEH service as well as offering a funded qualification to enable you to develop your career, whilst delivering one to one and group support to children, young people and their families within educational settings.
What you’ll need to succeed:
The ability to work with young people and their families, building effective and positive relationships – communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
This is a training role within Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYPIAPT). The post holder will be expected to attend a university based course (Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner Course) at Kings London and self-study for the first year.
You will be expected to attend the University-based taught and self-study days required by the Kings College, London, as specified within the agreed national curriculum, and then work in the service area for the remaining days of the week using your developing skills. This will include a total of 25 days (throughout the year) of study at KCL in London, alongside self-study.
The training will commence in January 2019 and candidates must apply for the course programme via Kings College London (KCL) at the same time as completing this application form. Applications to the training programme will be reviewed against the education provider’s minimum entry requirement:
A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology)
Motivation to undertake and complete the course
If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.
